God's word is truth. So much of what we hear from “the world” goes against what we hear from God's word. It's good to look at those conflicts and prepare ourselves for the discussion. I wrote this for our VBS parents and I thought I'd share it here too…
When it comes to origins it's really about perspective:
- If you don't believe in God, you look for a way to explain our existence without Him. You look at what we can see in our world today and try to determine what happened long ago. You can use good math, good methods, and good logic and come up with viable explanations. However, this still requires many, many, assumptions because we are basing knowledge of the past on present observations.
- If you believe in God, you look to His Word, the Bible, to explain our existence with Him. God, who was there at the beginning, has recorded through and for His people how He made everything, including us, and how He has interacted with His people since Creation. This requires faith, the assumption that God's Word is true. We base our knowledge of the past on this faith, and what we see in the present fits what God's Word tells us.
Sadly, we and our children hear daily from public schools, mainstream media, and even some Christian sources, that the assumptions of the unbelievers are FACT, and we must adjust Scripture to fit. This is simply not the case. For a more detailed defense of the Biblical facts, look for additional resources, like this video https://youtu.be/UfgqV_6XxAE?si=l54iX63mQcx6qwUp .
It is 45 minutes, but that time spent is nothing compared to the amount of time the world spends telling your family the Bible is not true.

John 17:14-17 NIV
[14] I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. [15] My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. [16] They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. [17] Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
1 Peter 3:15-16 NIV
[15] But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, [16] keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
