Why?

“Why do bad things happen to good people?”. You've no doubt heard, or even asked, that question. Whether it's an international mass tragedy or an individual illness or death, we may wonder “Why?”. When we see the world through God's Word, the answer is there.

God is good and perfect and created all things to hold to that standard. The very first time Adam and Eve disobeyed God, and every time all of us have done so after that, put the world out of God's perfection and into His judgment. Thankfully by His Grace He immediately put in motion a plan to save us from the eternal death we deserve. That plan was fulfilled when Jesus, though perfect God, was punished in our place. The world we live in now, however, is still ruined by sin. And in a world that is not perfect, bad things happen. We praise God that he does not leave us, is with us through the trouble, and has already saved us from eternal punishment.

The world today tells us that we can decide what's right and wrong based on our situation and that things will be better (perfect?) if everyone is free to live as they please.

The Bible tells us our loving God has put rules into place for our good and protection, but the corruption of our sin ruins the world and we need (and have) His Grace and forgiveness.
